RAINBOW PLAYERS THEATER CO. is proud to open our 2nd season with BLUE SWEATER, an original play written & directed by local Allentown playwright/actor, Bradford Zuercher
AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD AS FOLLOWS:
Saturday, September 19 - 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Sunday, September 20 - 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Actors/Actresses may bring a 1-2 minute monologue, but not necessary.
The playwright will have you read selected scenes from the script.
Production dates:
Friday, November 20 @ 8:00 pm
Saturday, November 21 @ 2:00 pm
Matinee performance will benefit ALLENTOWN PUBLIC THEATRE - a new non-profit professional
stage company dedicated to bringing the arts to downtown Allentown.
Saturday, November 21 @ 7:00 pm
Rehearsals will primarily be held on Friday nights, Saturday afternoons/evenings, Sunday
afternoon/evenings. The director will also have the option to call additional rehearsals.
BLUE SWEATER is a two-act play written by Allentown native playwright and actor, Bradford Zuercher, who received
his degree in theatre from DeSales Univeristy, and has been involved with many productions in local theaters.
Blue Sweater deals with a college student who struggles with his sexuality and spirituality while falling in love with the
wrong person. The play consists of five characters: two females (early 20s) and three males (early 20s and early 40s).
Characters
- Nelson Erb, 20, a gay college student
- Joshua Addison, 20, a college jock
- Jackie Bass, 20, Nelson's best friend
- Maria Depiri, 20, Nelson's ex-girlfriend
- Father Duncan, 40s, a Catholic Priest
Setting
The scenes take place in and around a small, Catholic College Campus during the 1993-1994 academic year. Most of the action takes
place between two dorm rooms and a confessional.
